Highmark monitoring Change Healthcare cyber security issue

PITTSBURGH (February 22, 2024) — On Wednesday, Feb. 21, Change Healthcare (a healthcare technology company), announced that they had been compromised by a cyber event.

Change Healthcare disconnected its systems to prevent further impact, and as a result, some providers that use Change Healthcare services are prevented from processing and submitting prescription drug and medical claims to insurance companies – including Highmark – for payment.

We are working with providers that use Change Healthcare on identifying alternative methods to submit claims for payment.

Until the issue is resolved, some members may be issued written prescriptions or may have their prescription transferred to another pharmacy that was not affected. Because not all prescriptions and pharmacies will be affected, members should try to fill their prescriptions as they normally would.

Members who have difficulty filling a prescription should contact their prescribing provider.
