PITTSBURGH (November 1, 2022) — Highmark announced its Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance products in Western Pennsylvania for the upcoming year, offering individuals and families new products, lower select premiums and copays, and innovative new benefits.
On November 1, Highmark will unveil a range of affordable, high-quality coverage options, including expanding its fast-growing Together Blue product to Butler County and introducing a new Together Blue Diabetes option that improves care coordination and lowers costs for the chronic health condition that affects about one in ten Americans.
“We are committed to providing high-quality affordable health care to individuals and families across Pennsylvania,” says Ellen Galardy, Senior VP of Consumer Markets. “Thousands of Highmark members and millions of consumers nationwide have benefitted from expanded ACA subsidies that lower what they pay for their coverage, and those subsidies have been extended through at least 2025. At a time when inflation is rising and household budgets are tight, there’s an affordable Highmark ACA plan for every individual and family in Pennsylvania.”
Almost 90% of Highmark’s ACA marketplace members in Pennsylvania qualify for subsidies or tax credits to make their coverage more affordable, with nearly 15,000 of Highmark’s Pennsylvania members enrolled in plans with a premium of less than $5 per month after subsidy.
2023 Individual and Family plans
In 2023, Highmark will expand Together Blue into Butler County for 2023. Together Blue is Highmark’s most affordable and most popular product in Western Pennsylvania, connecting the world-class care of Allegheny Health Network (AHN) with an innovative service and experience model from Highmark.
“Together Blue is the original blended health initiative between Highmark and AHN, creating a seamless experience for our members,” says Bill Tuthill, Vice President of Federal Markets. “Our innovative service model, the Together Connect Team, acts as a one-stop shop for Together Blue members, providing a best-in-class experience with clinical guidance and access to MyChart and appointment scheduling.
“We are also excited to launch Together Blue Diabetes, an innovative new plan design that features lower copays for diabetic specialist visits, free diabetic labs, and the most popular diabetic medications for $0 to $3, all supported by the world-class care team at the Allegheny Health Network.”
With so much to offer, plus some of the lowest premiums in the region, more Western Pennsylvania consumers are choosing Together Blue. Total ACA membership in Together Blue has soared from about 6,000 in January 2020, to 10,400 in January 2021, to about 15,000 in January 2022. Surveyed members have a nearly 97% satisfaction with the product.
Highmark will also offer PPO products in each of the 29 Western Pennsylvania counties that Highmark serves, providing individuals and families access to the broadest local and national network of doctors and hospitals, all without requiring referrals to see a specialist.
“Our most popular plans aren’t changing for 2023. But since we realize that our ACA customers aren’t always looking for the same thing in a health plan, we make a broad range of plans available and help our customers to enroll in the one that’s right for them,” says Tuthill. “More Western Pennsylvania consumers are choosing Highmark, with our total ACA membership up more than 200% since 2020.”
While the open enrollment period runs through January 15, consumers must enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts on January 1. For more information on Highmark’s 2023 ACA health insurance products, visit Highmark.com or call 855-977-5935.
