2026 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community registration now open

Community members invited to support events directly benefiting 150+ Pennsylvania and Delaware nonprofits

PITTSBURGH (April 8, 2026) — Highmark Inc. is inviting others to step in support their favorite nonprofit organizations during its annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, which will benefit 150+ nonprofits throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware this May and June. Online participant registration is free and available now on the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community website.

This unique event unites community members and nonprofits throughout various communities to raise money, boosting impactful programs and initiatives that focus on community health and help ensure healthier, brighter and stronger futures for all.

The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is part of the Highmark Bright Blue Futures charitable giving and community involvement program that focuses on improving access to care, quality of life and economic resilience in the communities we serve. Since 2003, the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community events combined have raised over $20 million for more than 560 health and human service nonprofit organizations.

“This annual event is a vital part of our Highmark Bright Blue Futures program, bringing the community together to champion local organizations and promote healthy, active living,” said Dan Onorato, executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer at Highmark Health. “We’re honored to provide a platform that significantly amplifies fundraising efforts, enabling nonprofit organizations to broaden their impactful work and enrich the communities we share.”

Highmark hosts and fully funds each event, while participants select the nonprofit organization they wish to support. The nonprofits then keep 100 percent of the funds raised by the participants to use in future community-minded programs and initiatives.

Highmark is eager to announce new locations for two of its 2026 walks, offering participants iconic locations for their community efforts. The Pittsburgh-based walk, scheduled for May 30, will now take place at the historic Point State Park, a landmark located at the confluence of the three rivers. A week earlier, on May 23, the Laurel Highlands-based walk will be held at Point Stadium, bringing together community members in the heart of Johnstown, Pa.

"With over 150 nonprofit organizations already on board, the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is set to make an even greater impact,” said Kenya T. Boswell, senior vice president of community affairs at Highmark Health and president of the Highmark Foundation. “Point State Park in Pittsburgh and Point Stadium in Johnstown offer more space and incredible backdrops, enhancing the experience for our walkers and strengthening our ties to these communities.”

At each location, a fully accessible 5K (3.1 mile) route and a one-mile route are available, and pets on leashes are welcome. In addition to the walk—entertainment, family-friendly activities and refreshments will be available for all attendees to enjoy.

Participants can register and donate now at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community website, where they can select their walk location and the participating nonprofit of their choice. Event information is below:
