Community members invited to support events that will benefit 130+ area nonprofits throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware
PITTSBURGH (April 9, 2025) — Highmark Inc. is inviting others to step in to support their favorite nonprofit organizations during its annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, which will benefit 130+ nonprofits throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware this May and June. Online registration to participate is free and available now at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community website.
This unique event unites community members and nonprofits throughout various communities to raise money to boost impactful programs and initiatives that focus on Community Health and help ensure healthier, brighter and stronger futures for all.
The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is part of the Highmark Bright Blue Futures charitable giving and community involvement program that focuses on improving access to care, quality of life and economic resilience in the communities we serve. Through 2024, the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community events have raised more than $19.2 million for more than 560 health and human service nonprofit organizations.
“This annual event is a cornerstone of our Highmark Bright Blue Futures program, bringing together community members to support local organizations making a real difference and fostering a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Dan Onorato, executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer at Highmark Health. “We’re proud to provide a platform that significantly boosts fundraising efforts, enabling nonprofit organizations to expand their impactful work and strengthen the communities we all share.”
Highmark hosts and fully funds each event, while participants select the nonprofit organization they wish to support. The nonprofits then keep 100 percent of the funds raised by the participants to use in future community-minded programs and initiatives.
At each location, fully accessible 5K (3.1 mile) routes and one-mile routes are available, and pets on leashes are welcome. In addition to the walk, entertainment, family-friendly activities and refreshments will be available for all attendees to enjoy.
