PHILADELPHIA (June 29, 2023) — Highmark Blue Shield today announced that Doylestown Health’s Doylestown Hospital has entered into a Pennsylvania Insurance Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Health approved in-network provider contract with Highmark Inc. on behalf of itself and its affiliate health plans.

Founded in 1923 by the Village Improvement Association, Doylestown Hospital and its acquired health facilities have expanded to Doylestown Health, representing a connected system of outpatient, inpatient, and community services. Doylestown Health provides a network of care, serving patients in the northern suburban communities of Philadelphia, including Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

Doylestown Health joins Temple Health and Penn Medicine as an additional hospital system that has entered into an agreement with Highmark Inc. and its affiliate health plans in Southeast Pennsylvania.

“We are pleased to announce this agreement with Doylestown Health,” said Dan Tropeano, Highmark’s segment president for commercial segments in southeastern Pennsylvania. “Doylestown Health has received numerous awards for the care they have been providing to families over the past 100 years.”

Doylestown Health has experts in over 50 specialties offering the latest therapies for common and complex health conditions. Most recently, the health system has been recognized as one of the best hospitals in the region by Newsweek and earned a 14th consecutive ‘A’ grade for patient safety by the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.

“Doylestown Health is pleased to have completed a provider contract with Highmark assuring that individuals and families insured through Highmark have access to our high-quality clinical network of services and physicians,” says Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health.
