What is CHIP - Highmark Healthy Kids?

Highmark Healthy Kids, a Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) HMO brought to you by Highmark Choice Company, provides free or low-cost comprehensive health coverage to children under 19 years of age, so they can get the care they need. Enrollment is not limited by household income; however, income does determine your out-of-pocket costs. You don't need to fill out any medical questionnaires to enroll.

A history with Highmark

Highmark helped set up the original CHIP program in Pennsylvania, which was signed into law in 1992. The first child was enrolled in May of 1993. Since then, the PA CHIP program has become the model for every other CHIP program across the country. You can rest assured that Highmark will support your child’s health care needs with CHIP.
