PITTSBURGH (April 5, 2023) — Highmark Inc. is inviting others to step in to support their favorite nonprofit organizations during its annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, which will benefit 190 nonprofits throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware this May and June. This unique event unites community members and nonprofits throughout various communities to raise money to boost impactful programs and initiatives with focuses on Community Health and Community and Economic Resilience that help ensure healthier, brighter and stronger futures for all. Online registration to participate is free and available now at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community website.

The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is part of the Highmark Bright Blue Futures charitable giving and community involvement program that focuses on improving equitable access to care, quality of life and economic resilience in the communities we serve. This event series has supported more than 500 organizations throughout the region in helping to collectively raise more than $17.6 million since the event started in 2003. This past year alone, the series of events raised more than $850,000.

"We are proud to see this signature event grow year after year as community members continue to join us in supporting local organizations that are doing meaningful work to make our communities stronger," said Highmark Health Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Dan Onorato. "The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an essential part of our Highmark Bright Blue

Futures program, as it provides nonprofits with a unique fundraising opportunity to build capacity for their mission, expand limited resources, and extend their impactful work throughout the various communities we serve."

Highmark hosts and fully funds each event, while walkers select the participating nonprofit organization they wish to support. The nonprofits then keep 100 percent of the funds raised by the participants to use in future community-minded programs and initiatives.

A 5K (3.1 mile) route and a one-mile route (both are accessible for individuals with disabilities) are available, and pets on leashes are welcome. In addition to the walk, entertainment, family- friendly activities and refreshments will be available for attendees to enjoy.
