What's New at Highmark Inc.
Highmark Delaware is partnering with the Wilmington Blue Rocks to support REACH Riverside.
This summer, Highmark Delaware is once again partnering with the Wilmington Blue Rocks and their Ks for Kids Program. During the 2019 baseball season, Highmark Delaware will donate $10 for every strikeout thrown by a Blue Rocks pitcher at Frawley Stadium. Donations up to a total of $5,000 will go to REACH Riverside.
REACH Riverside is a community redevelopment organization focused on holistic revitalization for Wilmington's once thriving Riverside neighborhood. Working in partnership with community members, state, and local government; the Kingswood Community Center; EastSide Charter School; and the Wilmington Housing Authority, REACH is creating quality, 21st century housing, education, and wellness opportunities for one of the city's most disadvantaged areas.
REACH is working as a partner alongside The Warehouse, a youth resource center being developed "for teens, by teens" at the southern end of Riverside. When it opens in September 2019, The Warehouse will be home to a diverse community of nonprofit service providers where Wilmington teens can just be themselves while having access to a wide range of activities and services that will provide the creativity, well-being, and relevant experiences they need to prepare for the workforce and higher education opportunities.
This is the thirteenth year that Highmark Delaware has partnered with the Wilmington Blue Rocks as part of the Ks for Kids program. Since 2006, more than $65,000 has been awarded through Ks for Kids to Delaware organizations helping children. Past beneficiaries include the Kind to Kids Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, YMCA Water Wise, Exceptional Care for Children, Boys and Girls Club of Delaware, and Delaware Guidance Services for Children and Youth, Inc.
