Highmark Inc. announces new leadership team, positioning for growth and service excellence: Promotes two veteran leaders and brings in new skill sets in government business
PITTSBURGH (June 11, 2015) To further strengthen the company's growth strategies and support continued service excellence to members and group customers, Highmark Inc. today announced elevated roles for two veteran leaders and a new addition to its leadership team in health plan markets, diversified businesses and government markets.
"Given the continued transformation of health care in all of our service areas and across the country, our objective is to foster new ways to support our members and group customers," said Deborah Rice-Johnson, president of Highmark Health Plans. "Through this alignment of leaders, I'm confident in the senior team that we’ve assembled to help achieve our goals."
Tim Constantine currently market president of Highmark Delaware has been named executive vice president, Commercial Markets for Highmark. In this role, Constantine will continue serving as Highmark Delaware’s president, in addition to overseeing Highmark's National Markets, Pennsylvania Markets and West Virginia Markets.
F.G. "Chip" Merkel, president and COO, United Concordia, will serve as executive vice president, Diversified Businesses for Highmark. In this role, Merkel will assume responsibility for HM Insurance Group, in addition to leading United Concordia.
Jean Rush will join Highmark as executive vice president, Government Markets. Rush comes from Centene Corporation, in St. Louis, MO, where she served as senior vice president, Complex Care. Her background includes extensive experience in government contracting and Medicare and Medicaid market expansion. Prior to Centene, Rush served in leadership positions at Kentucky Spirit Health Plan and Cigna. In her new role, Rush will lead Highmark's Senior Markets, Individual and Small Group Markets, and West Virginia and Delaware Highmark Medicaid Markets.
