When these superfans follow their team, their coverage goes with them*

Leslie is a Pittsburgh Penguins (Pens) hockey superfan. She recently traveled 2,200 miles with her 16-year-old son and some friends to watch the Pens take on the Vegas Golden Knights.

A native Pittsburgher, Leslie has been cheering on her team for the past 11 years. But the 2017-2018 Pens hockey season has been bittersweet for Leslie. Like many Pittsburgh hockey fans, she misses the style and grace of Pens' former goaltender Marc André Fleury. He got picked up by the Vegas Golden Knights in the June 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.

So she decided to travel across the country to see Fleury in the net again. Even while she cheered for his old teammates, Penguins' players Sid, Geno, Phil, and Tanger.

Travel in December — during cold and flu season — is always risky. But Leslie wasn't concerned about getting sick. She knew she'd have access to great health care on her journey. Leslie and Jeremy's Highmark insurance plan goes wherever they go. So instead of worrying about their health, they could focus on the game.

Leslie and Jeremy are Living Proof of having home-ice advantage when it comes to coverage.

A super time

Even though the Pens lost that game 2-1, Leslie and her crew, ages 16–58, had a great time. She estimated that around 40% of the crowd was wearing Penguins jerseys.

And they wasted no time showing their love for Fleury. He got a standing ovation from Pittsburgh and Vegas fans during the starting lineup announcement. This was the highlight of the evening for Leslie.

Of course Leslie also enjoyed watching her favorite team in action." I love that they never give up," she said." I love their grit."

Leslie and Jeremy always enjoy cheering for the Pens on home ice at PPG Paints Arena. But they expect to plan more away game excursions, too.

"We'd like to make travel to Pens games an annual thing," said Leslie.

And Highmark will be traveling with them. "It's comforting to know that if anything goes wrong, we'll be covered," she added.
