Highmark announces 2022 affordable Care Act products in West Virginia

Parkersburg, W.Va. (November 1, 2021) — Highmark West Virginia today announced its Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance products for the upcoming year, offering individuals and families an array of high-quality, affordable coverage options.

On November 1, Highmark will offer new products, lower select premiums and copays, and introduce innovative new benefits, furthering their commitment to providing high-quality affordable health care to individuals and families in West Virginia.

“Our goal is to offer the best health insurance products in the region at prices that all of our members can afford,” says Alexis Miller, President of Federal Markets for Highmark. “And new enhancements to the ACA have made plans more affordable for even more consumers by reducing or eliminating premiums and lowering out-of-pocket costs.”

Thanks in part to the American Rescue Plan, about three in four Highmark ACA members qualify for tax credits to make their coverage more affordable and about one in four members are enrolled in a plan with a $0 monthly premium.

2022 Individual and Family plans
Highmark’s options for 2022 were designed with consumers in mind and make it easy for them to find the right coverage for their needs and budget. Consumers will be able to shop a range of Highmark product options the provide easy access to top doctors in the region and around the country.

West Virginia consumers will be able to select from a range of broad-network ACA plans from Highmark WV, called my Blue Access WV EPO. These plans provide in-network access to all acute care hospitals in the state, as well as in-network coverage for services received from more than 95 percent of doctors and hospitals around the country through the BlueCard® program. This includes access to contracted Blues providers in nearby states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, and Virginia.

“We’re excited to offer such a broad network of trusted doctors and hospitals to our ACA customers,” says Ellen Galardy, Senior VP of Consumer Markets. “Combined with the best-in-class service that Highmark is known for, we expect to see a lot more people looking to trade up to better coverage this year.”

To give consumers flexibility and convenient access to care, all of Highmark’s individual and family products also cover virtual visits. And, in response to positive feedback, Highmark has expanded the number of Highmark ACA plans that include bundled adult dental and vision coverage in addition to medical and pharmacy coverage.

Highmark offers plans at the gold, silver, and bronze metallic levels within its my Blue Access WV EPO product, along with catastrophic plans for consumers under age 30.

No matter which Highmark plan a consumer chooses, they’ll have the peace of mind and freedom to choose the in-network doctor or specialist they want to see, with no referrals necessary; plus, access to Highmark’s top-rated customer service representatives and care management programs.

“We listen to our customers and they say they want quality, affordable health insurance without referrals or red tape.  We were the first to offer ACA individual products in all 55 counties of WV, and we remain committed to delivering what our ACA customers are looking for,” says Jim Fawcett, President, Highmark West Virginia.

While the open enrollment period runs through January 15, consumers must enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts on January 1. For more information on Highmark’s 2022 ACA health insurance products, visit discoverhighmark.com or call 888-865-0019.
