Highmark WV contributes face coverings to Cities of Parkersburg, Vienna and Williamstown

• Highmark face coverings will serve as an alternative to preserving PPE

Parkersburg, W.Va. (July 01, 2020) — Highmark WV is extending its gratitude to city workers in Parkersburg, Vienna and Williamstown by donating face coverings to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus and preserve valuable personal protective equipment (PPE).

“Highmark WV appreciates the hard work and dedication demonstrated by city employees, law enforcement, fire departments and first responders who have served on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic since day one. We owe them an immense amount of gratitude and support as they continue to serve our community,” said Jim Fawcett, president of Highmark West Virginia. “It’s fitting that we can show our appreciation by providing them with face coverings that will allow for high-grade personal protective equipment to be preserved for when it’s needed the most.”

The face coverings are made of a washable fabric material and are branded with Highmark’s signature colors, blue and green. The face coverings are intended to be worn in situations where front line workers may not be interacting with an individual requiring medical assistance or is off-duty. The initiative highlights Highmark’s dedication to the community by providing coverage for more than health care alone.

“Thousands of West Virginians rely on Highmark for covering their health insurance needs, so we are going an extra step to literally help cover the faces of the professionals who are essential in caring for our communities’ needs,” Fawcett added.
