Highmark Inc. to serve as official health insurance sponsor for Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association

PITTSBURGH (March 4, 2021) — Highmark Inc. has secured a three-year agreement to serve as the official health insurance sponsor for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association (PIAA). The agreement began on January 1, 2021 and extends through December 31, 2023.

As part of the agreement, Highmark Inc. will be recognized as a “presenting sponsor” for all PIAA Boys and Girls High School Championship sports at over 1,450 PIAA schools and 85 annual championship events throughout Pennsylvania. The sponsorship has the potential to reach over 350,000 student-athletes and more than 750,000 parents and team supporters.

Allegheny Health Network, Highmark Inc.’s provider partner in western Pennsylvania, serves as the healthcare provider and sponsor for the PIAA within its service area, and provides team medical coverage for over two dozen local high schools in the Pittsburgh and Erie regions. Highmark Inc.’s sponsorship of the PIAA further demonstrates its commitment to creating a seamless, blended health experience for its members and customers.
