Highmark Inc. and Allegheny Health Network support future generations of frontline caregivers at Grove City College Johnson School of Nursing
PITTSBURGH (December 1, 2020) — Highmark Inc. and Allegheny Health Network (AHN) are working together to support current college students who will serve as the future generation of frontline healthcare professionals.
Through a $5,500 grant to the Grove City College Johnson School of Nursing, nursing students beginning their clinical rounds in the fall of 2021 will each receive backpacks containing a stethoscope, pen light, and customized nursing scrubs.
“Frontline caregivers have always been the heart and soul of our communities,” shared Deb Rice-Johnson, President of Highmark. “The last several months have truly reconfirmed how essential all frontline workers are, including nurses, and how much we appreciate their tireless dedication to serving others. Highmark is proud to support future generations of health care heroes through this grant.”
Incoming nursing students eligible for the package will be notified by Grove City College in the coming weeks. Students will receive their supplies from the grant in the spring of 2021.
Highmark also plans to extend the program to additional colleges and universities around Pennsylvania in the coming months.
