See the resources below to find local services and treatment options for all forms of substance misuse, including opioids, as well as other helpful recovery and support resources.
COVID-19
Since early 2020, our lives have been changed by COVID-19. Many people are struggling with their mental health, substance misuse, or both. It is common to have anxiety about how the pandemic is affecting you and your loved ones. Sometimes these feelings can become overwhelming. Many of the resources on this page can help.

- Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (PA DDAP) Treatment Locator: Searches can be made by zip code or by county. You can find treatment for substance misuse as well as gambling. The website also has information about drug take-back days and finding Naloxone (NARCAN®). https://apps.ddap.pa.gov/gethelpnow/
- Pennsylvania Opioid Use Disorder Centers of Excellence (OUD-COEs)
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (PA DHS): Find help with substance use challenges. Your local Single County Authority (SCA) can help as well. SCAs are county-based organizations that can help you find treatment for substance use. They can also help with paying for treatment if you are uninsured or concerned about costs that may not be covered by your current insurance.
- FindTreatment.gov: Search this nationwide database by zip code or city to find treatment near you. Results are sorted by distance and include phone numbers, websites, services provided, and payment/insurance accepted.
- SAMHSA Opioid Treatment Provider (OTP) Directory: OTPs are often referred to as “methadone clinics,” but also offer other medications for opioid use disorder as well as therapy, groups, and other resources. Use this directory to search for an OTP near you.
- Allegheny HealthChoices Inc. (AHCI) Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Locator: Find medication options for opioid use disorder. You can search by zip code with other optional filters*. (Note: searches may only provide results for Central and Western PA)
Naloxone is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. In Pennsylvania, anyone can request naloxone at their pharmacy. The standing order, or statewide prescription, allows citizens to do this. Naloxone can also be prescribed by your healthcare provider or ordered through the mail.

- Local Harm Reduction / Syringe Service Programs (SSPs)
- Pennsylvania has two SSPs: Prevention Point Pittsburgh (412-247-3404) and Prevention Point Philadelphia (215-634-5271). Both organizations offer naloxone (NARCAN®), syringe exchange, wound care, referrals, housing assistance, and more.
Gateway Health Plan, Inc. d/b/a Highmark Wholecare is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. Highmark Wholecare offers HMO plans with a Medicare Contract. Enrollment in these plans depends on contract renewal.
