Highmark Wholecare provides programs and services that help you meet more than your basic medical needs. These programs and services include:

Expanded Services

NurseLine

As a Highmark Wholecare member, help is always just a phone call away. If you’ve had a recent diagnosis, treatment options or surgery our NurseLine can help you with:

  • Current symptoms
  • Medication side effects
  • Self-care home treatments
  • When to go to the doctor
  • When to go to the Urgent Care Center or Emergency Room
  • Preventive care and lab tests

A professional nurse is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer your questions.

Wellness Coaching

Our program that provides access to wellness coaches. This program is available to all of our members. The different kinds of wellness coaches includes:

  • Registered Dietician
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor

Registered Dieticians
These wellness coaches are healthy food experts who can help answer your questions. These experts can help you learn about how the food you eat could impact any medical issues you have.

Certified Diabetes Care Specialist
These wellness coaches will help you learn about taking medicines and how to live with diabetes. They will help you learn how to take your medication. You will set goals to get moving. Your food expert will be able to help you eat the right foods for your diabetes.

Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
This wellness coach will help you prevent or reduce falls. They will ask you some questions about your risk for falling. A home safety checklist will also be done to make sure your home is as safe as possible.

Get Your GED

Many jobs now require a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) and getting your GED gives you the chance to earn at least $9,000 more a year! Don’t miss the opportunity to take your GED test at NO COST.

In order to qualify for this benefit, you must:

  • Be a current Highmark Wholecare member
  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Be a Pennsylvania resident
  • Not enrolled in any other school program

Boys & Girls Clubs

Are you enrolled in the Boys & Girls Clubs programming, or do you want to enroll?

You can have the monthly membership dues paid by Highmark Wholecare!

In order to qualify, you must:

  • Be a current Highmark Wholecare member
  • Be between the ages of 6-18 for the Olivet Boys and Girls Clubs in Reading [see website for more info on the benefits of youth participation in this club]: https://www.olivetbgc.org
  • Be between the ages of 5-24 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania [see website for more info on the benefits of youth participation in this club]: https://www.bgcwpa.org
  • Live near one of the clubhouse locations
