PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (April 16, 2019) — The Highmark Community Garden, located at the Point Park Marketplace in downtown Parkersburg, is now accepting applications for garden plots for the 2019 growing season. This marks the fifth growing season for the community garden.
The community garden features 49 raised-bed plots — including five handicap-accessible beds — a fountain, park benches, sidewalks and a 16-by-20-foot greenhouse.
Raised-bed plots are available for lease in four different sizes — 4'x8', 5'x10', 6'x12' and 10'x10' — with annual fees of $15, $20, $25 and $35, respectively. Plots will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.
Local residents, businesses, schools, food banks and nonprofit organizations looking for a means to grow fresh produce and build skills for healthy living are encouraged to apply.
Those interested in renting a garden plot should stop by the Point Park Marketplace to fill out an application and pay the annual rental fee.
