Expecting moms can "Meet Dr. Right" at Jefferson Hospital Sept. 12
PITTSBURGH (Aug. 25, 2017) — For expecting moms, finding the right doctors and hospital for prenatal care and delivery is an important decision, but it shouldn't have to be stressful.
That's why Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Allegheny Health Network are teaming up for a free "Meet Dr. Right" event on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Jefferson Hospital, 565 Coal Valley Road, Jefferson Hills.
Meet Dr. Right events are sponsored by Highmark and provide attendees with the opportunity to meet, mingle, and make appointments with physicians from Allegheny Health Network and other community practices that are accepting new patients.
At the Jefferson Hospital event, new and soon-to-be moms can meet the hospital's Ob/Gyns, pediatricians, lactation counselors, midwives, OB anesthesiologists, and more.
"With this event, our goal is to provide new and expecting moms with information on the importance of quality health care for themselves and their baby — all in one place and at one time," said Charles DeShazer, M.D., chief medical officer for Highmark.
Attendees can tour Jefferson Hospital's birthing suites, meet midwives, talk with baby product vendors, and take advantage of free health screenings.
"We encourage expecting moms to come out to this event, even if they aren't Allegheny Health Network patients," said Dr. DeShazer. "The health-related activities and screenings will certainly benefit any soon-to-be mom."
