Running 101 is a free, 10-week physical activity program that provides the tools and support to help beginner runners train and complete their first 5K race. The progressive training approach provides weekly emails and step-by step training to guide participants in building confidence and physical endurance. Complete the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire on your own to make sure you're ready for this program.

Once you choose your training start date from the list above, the next step is to select one of two training options* online, self-guided or in-person:
*If you previously participated in Running 101 and/or are active and do not require a coach to lead you through the training program, it is recommended that you register for the online, self-guided training.
Lastly, keep your eye on a race that you'd like to participate in. Some popular races are mentioned above for consideration or visit www.active.com for a list of races in your area.
Note: When you register for Running 101, you are only registering for the training program. You must register for a 5K race separately. Some 5K races will include a promotional code for a discounted price. Ask your coach or email email@example.com for more information.
