City of Pittsburgh Great Race

Don't miss the annual City of Pittsburgh Great Race.

This Sunday, Sept. 29, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will sponsor the annual City of Pittsburgh Great Race.

The race offers several competitions that allow participants of all athletic levels and ages to join. Events include 10K run, 5K run, and 5K walk. Wheelchair competitions will be held in both the 10K and 5K races. The Junior Great Race will take place on Saturday at Point State Park.

The City of Pittsburgh Great Race was established in 1977 and named in honor of late Pittsburgh Mayor Richard S. Caliguiri. Since then, more than a quarter of a million runners and walkers have participated, making the City of Pittsburgh Great Race the largest 10K race in Pennsylvania and the tenth largest in the country.

Attend the Great Race Expo

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is also sponsoring the Great Race Expo on Sept. 27 and 28 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Registered participants can pick up shirts and race numbers. In addition, there will be an opportunity to sample products and purchase discounted sporting goods. Admission to the expo is free.
