Educate yourself about endometriosis, a painful gynecological disorder that affects women.

The Endometriosis Association has designated this month to raise awareness for endometriosis, a disorder that affects around 176 million women around the world. It can affect women during their reproductive years and is most common in the 30- to 40-age range.

This painful condition is caused by tissue lining the outside of the uterus instead of the inside. Symptoms include painful cramps, fatigue, lower back pain, nausea, and a heavy menstrual flow.

There is no cure for endometriosis, but it can be treated by a doctor with medication and sometimes surgery. You can reduce your chances of developing it by lowering the levels of estrogen in your body. This can be done by limiting your intake of alcohol and caffeine, eating healthy foods, and exercising on a regular basis.
