Health Care Reform Press Kit
Prepared for a new way of doing business
In March 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law. Also known as health care reform, the ACA will impact the entire health care system and every American. A primary intent of the legislation is to expand access to health coverage to 32 million Americans who currently are not insured. Our company is prepared to help guide historic numbers of our neighbors through the new era of reform. While many individuals will opt for or maintain traditional employer-based health coverage, many others will seek new coverage.
At the same time, we remain concerned that although health care reform expanded access, it did not provide sufficient solutions to the perplexing problems of cost and quality in the American health care system. While the United States spends more than any other nation on health care, our health care system falls short at making sure people receive the right care at the right time in the right health care setting. We believe that new models of medical delivery and payment are needed to permanently bend the cost curve and introduce new standards for safe, high-quality, evidence-based care delivered by efficient health systems. We have long committed resources to these aims and will continue to work collaboratively with doctors and hospitals and provide programs and funding in support of these vital goals.
These materials provide detailed information about health care reform and our response and perspective on reform.
