PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (April 20, 2016) — Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield West Virginia announced today that as part of its 3rd annual Ks for Kids program, the company will donate $5 to KEYS 4 HealthyKids for every strikeout thrown by a West Virginia Power pitcher at Appalachian Power Park this season.

"Through Ks for Kids, Highmark West Virginia and the West Virginia Power have the opportunity to spotlight a program in West Virginia that is making a difference in the lives of our children," said Highmark West Virginia President Fred Earley. "We all have a stake in creating healthier communities, and our support of KEYS 4 HealthyKids is just one of the ways we can help give back."

KEYS 4 HealthyKids is a program geared toward reducing and preventing childhood obesity in West Virginia. The program promotes healthy eating and physical activity to children and communities through ongoing initiatives, such as healthy child care, outdoor classrooms, physical activity opportunities, community parks, school gardens and school wellness policies.

"We appreciate the support of Highmark West Virginia and the West Virginia Power baseball team to help KEYS 4 HealthyKids create healthy environments where kids learn and play," said Dr. Jamie Jeffrey, director of KEYS 4 HealthyKids.
