The difference you can make when you're all for health.
The January 2015 launch of the Braddock Urgent Care Center was made possible with support from Highmark. It brought local health care to this underserved community for the first time in five years.
Over the next year, 4,000 area residents received urgent care in their own neighborhood.
A health care facility with the potential to transform a community is living proof of Highmark's commitment to making high-quality, affordable care available where it's needed most.
After the closing of the former hospital in early 2010, Braddock area residents had to travel 10 to 20 miles to McKeesport or Pittsburgh for their urgent care needs.

Urgent care centers offer basic medical services. Urgent care is the better choice when a health problem is not an emergency or when a primary care physician isn’t available. It is often more efficient, more convenient and less expensive to use an urgent care center instead of a hospital emergency room.
"When the private sector, nonprofits, government and communities work together, great things can happen," Allegheny County executive Rich Fitzgerald said at the 2015 opening ceremony. "This urgent care center is a perfect example of stakeholders working together to benefit the community."
Braddock Urgent Care Center fulfills a need for close-to-home health services for thousands of people, and builds happier, healthier lives.
