The difference you can make when you're all for health.

Helping to bring top-quality, urgent care close to home

The January 2015 launch of the Braddock Urgent Care Center was made possible with support from Highmark. It brought local health care to this underserved community for the first time in five years.

Over the next year, 4,000 area residents received urgent care in their own neighborhood.

A health care facility with the potential to transform a community is living proof of Highmark's commitment to making high-quality, affordable care available where it's needed most.

Braddock Urgent Care Center

Affordable and convenient

After the closing of the former hospital in early 2010, Braddock area residents had to travel 10 to 20 miles to McKeesport or Pittsburgh for their urgent care needs.

Now, they can come to the Braddock Urgent Care Center. Quick, convenient and expert medical care is available for:

  • Colds, flu and viral illnesses
  • Minor fractures, sprains and strains
  • Medical physicals
  • X-rays, blood work and immunizations

Modern, fully equipped facility

Braddock Urgent Care Center is:

  • Staffed by board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants
  • Equipped with 12 patient exam rooms

Spreading the good news

Highmark also helped create a Braddock community ambassador program so as many people as possible know about this new center. These ambassadors:

  • Explain the available services
  • Encourage residents from surrounding communities to use the center
  • Tell their neighbors about this opportunity for better health

What is urgent care?

Urgent care centers offer basic medical services. Urgent care is the better choice when a health problem is not an emergency or when a primary care physician isn’t available. It is often more efficient, more convenient and less expensive to use an urgent care center instead of a hospital emergency room.

Making great things happen

"When the private sector, nonprofits, government and communities work together, great things can happen," Allegheny County executive Rich Fitzgerald said at the 2015 opening ceremony. "This urgent care center is a perfect example of stakeholders working together to benefit the community."

Braddock Urgent Care Center fulfills a need for close-to-home health services for thousands of people, and builds happier, healthier lives.
